This tool removes watermarks that were added as a /Watermark or /Stamp annotation, or as an optional-content layer, since those sit apart from the page and can be stripped or switched off cleanly. Watermarks drawn directly into the page's content, which is how most visible text and logo watermarks (including this site's own Watermark PDF tool) are added, can't be removed without altering the underlying page, so this tool leaves those in place.
