Frequently asked questions

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

JPG doesn't support transparency, so any transparent or semi-transparent pixels in your PNG are flattened onto a solid white background before saving. If you need to keep transparency, convert to WebP instead, which supports a full alpha channel.

Will image quality change?

Yes, slightly. JPG is a lossy format, so fine gradients and sharp edges (like text or line art) can show minor compression artifacts a PNG never has. Photos and complex images usually look effectively identical at normal viewing sizes.

Can I convert a batch of PNGs at once?

Yes. Drop multiple files into the box and they convert together in one pass; the result comes back as a single images.zip archive, with each file numbered in the order you selected them.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Conversion happens on your device, so your PNGs stay with you unless you email the result or save it to My Files. That makes it a good fit for screenshots, personal photos, or anything you'd rather keep on your device.
