How do I use DWG to DXF?

  1. 1

  2. 2

Click Convert to DXF. Your file uploads over an encrypted connection and converts, typically in seconds.

  3. 3

Download the .dxf file and open it in your CAD software of choice.

Frequently asked questions

Does the DXF preserve layers and geometry?

Standard layers, line entities, blocks, and 2D geometry carry over. Drawings that rely on dynamic blocks, external references (xrefs), or DWG-specific customizations may need a manual check or cleanup in your CAD software after conversion.

Are all DWG versions supported?

Most modern DWG revisions convert without issue. If you run into trouble with a very old or unusual DWG file, re-saving it from AutoCAD (or a compatible viewer) in a newer format first usually resolves it.
