Start and end times accept plain seconds like "90", or clock format like "1:23" (one minute 23 seconds) and "01:02:03" (one hour, two minutes, three seconds). The end time must come after the start time.
The clip is re-encoded to MP4 (H.264) so the cut can land exactly on the frames you chose, rather than snapping to the nearest keyframe. MP4 also plays natively in browsers, phones and editors, whatever container you uploaded.
Re-encoding is technically lossy, but at typical resolutions the difference isn't visually noticeable. Keep your original file if you need a pristine master; the trim never modifies the file you uploaded.
