Frequently asked questions

Which format should I pick: JPG, PNG, or WebP?

PNG is the safest default for text-heavy or diagram pages since it has no compression artifacts. JPG gives smaller files for photo-heavy pages where minor quality loss doesn't matter. WebP usually gives the smallest file size at similar quality, but check that wherever you're using the image supports it.

Do I need an account or a subscription?

Universal PDF requires a Pro subscription. One subscription unlocks every tool on the site, cancel anytime. The rendering itself runs on your device.

What resolution do the images come out at?

Pages render at a resolution suited for on-screen viewing and most printing needs. If you need very high-DPI output for large-format printing, a dedicated desktop tool will give more control over the exact render resolution.

Does this work on scanned PDFs?

Yes. Since this just renders each page as it appears, scanned and image-only PDFs convert exactly like text-based ones. If you actually need the text extracted, use OCR PDF or Image to Text instead.
